Week 17 Picture of the Week

Grown-Up Guide: Let’s Talk!

What to do

Sit together and look at the picture. Let your child lead — follow what they notice first.

You say it first (Copy + Add)

  • “I can see a frog on a leaf.”
  • “It has big red eyes.”
  • “The leaf looks wet and shiny.”

👉 Then, depending on the age of your child, add one or more words:

  • “A bright green frog.”
  • “Very big red eyes.”
  • “A slippery, wet leaf.”

💬 3 questions to build language

  • “What can you see?”
  • “Where is the frog sitting?”
  • “What else can you spot in the rainforest?”

If no answer

That’s okay — keep modelling:

  • “It’s a frog.”
  • “It’s sitting on a leaf.”
  • “I can see water and trees.”

⏱️ 2-minute routine

  • Look → Name → Add one word → Ask one question
  • Keep it short, warm, and pressure-free
